Toyota’s Debut of 2017 Highlander to Showcase Performance Updates!

Toyota has always had a history of innovation and excitement and the debut of the 2017 Highlander Mid-Size SUV shows Toyota’s commitment to continue in that path. The 2017 Highlander debuted at the New York International Auto Show in March. New for the Highlander is a newly developed direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission, a new 3.5L direct injection V6, new available stop and start engine system, new exterior, and more.

With the addition of the new direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission and the new 3.5L V6 direct injection engine, there will be higher horsepower and greater fuel efficiency. To help make the Highlander even more efficient than it already is, the stop and start engine system shuts off the engine when the vehicle stops, and starts it again when the brake pedal releases.

The 2017 Highlander will have an updated exterior and interior. There will be various grille finishes for each trim level, including a silver painted finish for LE, LE Plus and XLE levels, and a chrome finish for Limited and Platinum levels. In addition to the new grille colors, Toyota is introducing three new exterior color options for the Highlander: Celestial Silver Metallic, Toasted Walnut Pearl, and Salsa Red Pearl on the SE.

Brown leather will be available on Limited Platinum, and USB ports will be added to all Highlander options. Inside the Limited and Limited Platinum, second row captain’s chairs or second row bench seats can be added.

Also new for the 2017 Toyota Highlander is Toyota Safety Sense. This is a package of advanced safety features that includes pre-collision system with forward collision warning and automatic emergency brake, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, pedestrian pre-collision system and dynamic radar control.
