On the other hand, the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with an 8.8 kWh battery pack, and a 1-speed automatic transmission as well. The Prius Prime is capable of 95 horsepower in EV Only Mode, or an impressive 121 horsepower in Hybrid Mode. The 2017 Prius Prime is also capable of 105 lb.-ft. of torque and can go from zero to 60 in 9.6 or 10.4 seconds, depending on the trim level.

When it comes to braking, the 2017 Leaf can go from 70 mph to 0 mph in 188 feet, while the 2017 Prius Prime can do the same in about 180 feet. If you take a glance at mileage, you’ll see that the 2017 Nissan Leaf earns a total of 112 MPGe combined, while the 2017 Prius Prime earns a 133 MPGe combined and 54 MPG combined on gasoline only. Total driving range for the Leaf is 107 miles, versus the Prius Prime’s 25 miles in EV mode only, or 640 miles total range.
